Bespoke Strength Training for Cycling.
There are many good reasons for riding your bike. But I can't think of many bad reasons! If you do ride a bike, for whatever reason, be that for racing, for head space, for general health and wellbeing or just as an efficient way of getting from A-B then C and D too... then you'll know that not being able to ride your bike is a terrible feeling.
If you've ridden a bike any distance reasonably regularly you've also probably wondered (or even enquired) how can I go further, or faster, or ride more often without breaking myself - or indeed, all of the above!
There is an increasing amount of research pointing to the benefits of regular strength training. Benefits that include (but are not limited to);
Increased resilience to injury.
Increased effeciency.
Decreased recovery times.
Increased Power and Acceleration.
This applies no matter what your chosen distance is. So if you're after an improvement in your 'Flying 200m' at the velodrome, your local 10 mile Time Trial, or that 'once every 5 years' Audax (or anything inbetweeen), then some specific strength training may well be the part of the training jigsaw you're missing.
